Ken In A Barbie World

Now, I am very aware that I am a doll. I am fully aware that I am produced by Mattel and put for sale to please the wants of little girls. It's a great life, you know? I get to have all of these very nice fitting outfits, nice houses, and great cars. The company has even sculpted my plastic body with some muscles, which does well with the Barbies. The sole purpose of my creation is mainly to please a younger crowd. I was made to help feed imaginations and love stories. Though those love stories are completely artificial, at least Mattel creates a countless number of amazing looking Barbies. I mean, have you seen the breasts on any of them? They're gigantic! I have never seen a human's body come close to what a Barbie's looks like. Yet, my problems start with the amount "sexual equipment" that Barbie had, and how it was not possible for me to reciprocate. Having a little girl tell Barbie that I love her, is definitely not a smooth move. I'm ready to tak...

How Far Can We Go?

Though many of my friends scold at me or call me an "idiot" for believing conspiracy stories, I still read about them. Theories about aliens, or simulations, or evil corporations, and creatures from the crypt. These things do sometimes scare me. Because what if there is something that is truly out there. Something that would cause danger to us. In class this week, we discussed the piece, "The Measure or Restraint," talks of the continuous want for knowledge, and how that could ultimately lead us to our own demise.  I think one that comes to mind for a lot of people-- aliens. Aliens' existence is a highly controversial topic. Me personally, I think it's possible for them to be out there. There is a theory called "The Great Filter." It is described as a force that prevents life from expanding. This "filter" could be anything from a universal storm, black hole, or super advanced alien race.  What is scary is that, if the theory i...

Violation of Art

In class this week, we discussed the conflict between two pieces of art. One is "Charging Bull" and the other, "Fearless Girl." Both phenomenal pieces of work and both carry meanings. But the conflict arises between the artists. Both pieces stem from a form of guerilla art. A from of art that is very similar to graffiti. It is art that is placed somewhere from an anonymous source. "Charging Bull" was the first statue that was placed into Wall Street. And it's creator says the piece stands for the strength and integrity of Wall Street. The strength it took to bring Wall Street out of the economic crash. Then later, "Fearless Girl" pops up right in front of it. The day right before International Women's Day. It stands right in front of the bull, looking it in the eye. Hands on her hips and chest out, a very "Superman-esque" pose. She stands for the power of women in Wall Street. She stands up against the bull, showing that women...
